WASHINGTON — AIMHI President Rob Lawrence honored Congressman Jason Smith (R-MO), chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, with the n (AIMHI) 2025 Legislator of the Year Award.

Rep. Smith and his team have been strong champions for EMS, spearheading key legislation such as the Emergency Medical Services Reimbursement for On-Scene and Support Act and the Improving Access to Emergency Medical Services Act, AIMHI stated in a .

His committee also held a field hearing at an EMS facility, dedicating three hours to testimony on EMS operations and reimbursement challenges.

Ari Kirsh, a key staffer instrumental in advancing EMS-focused legislation, accepted the award on Smith’s behalf. Kirsh also recently attended a full webinar on the Ground Ambulance Data Collection System (GADCS) report, reflecting the team’s continued engagement with EMS policy issues.
