About 30 people were on board the bus at the time of the collision. The crash just before 5:30 a.m. prompted a major emergency response that included multiple ambulances, supervisors and a mass casualty vehicle, city officials said.

鈥淭his was a major response for Honolulu EMS, 鈥 said Dr. Jim Ireland, director of the Honolulu Emergency Services Department. 鈥淥ur team worked quickly, compassionately, and professionally, and I was very proud of their efforts.鈥
